The Anti-New Year's Resolution π
Dec 28, 2022As 2022 departs and we welcome 2023, I’d like to ask you do something a bit unconventional.
Yeah, I know it’s surprising that I, of all people, would ask you to consider going against the grain! π
Before you sit down and think about what you’d like to change for the new year ahead…and yeah, I know, like me, you may have already thought about it.
But before you officially create any resolutions, I’d like you to take a moment with me to do something far more valuable, something that will move you forward faster and in deeper alignment with your soul and who you are at your core.
It’s surprisingly effective, deceivingly simple, and unexpectedly difficult.
I’d like you to make a list of what was awesome about you in 2022.
Yup. That’s the assignment, if you choose to accept it. More instructions below.
List ten things that were awesome about you in 2022. I have my clients start at 25, you can do this!
Can you think back and remember some amazing steps you’ve taken, old habits of thought or action you’ve been able to loosen or let go of, moments of compassion you were able to have for yourself or others?
A year is a really long time. Think back to last winter, spring, summer, autumn, up to now.
Let’s take a moment and do this together.
I’ll wait. Find a pencil or pen and a scrap sheet of paper, a beautiful journal, a paper napkin, whatever is at hand. Just 10 things.
Ready. Set. Go.

- For extra credit, look at your list. Identify two people who have really benefited from you being in their lives (or more, no need to stop yourself if you get going). Two people you have served, either on purpose or by accident, who you have helped in some way.
Great.
Now, the hardest part. Are you ready?
Look at your lists. Take second, clear your mind, and OWN THIS. Yeah, it’s easy to just dismiss the good and focus on the bad. I routinely do it, and it’s something I’m working on. OWN this. Own your awesomeness.
Own your gifts that you contribute to the world every day. And by own, I mean to let that good energy into your heart and love yourself for a moment. Feel worthy. Feel proud. Feel good.
Love yourself for being who you are.
Love yourself for being the gift you are to others.
Love yourself for being willing to read this email.
Let that sink in. Deeply. To every cell of your being.
Take a couple of deep breaths, letting this energy into your lungs. Into your liver. Into all your organs. Into all your cells.
Own it.
OK, perfect. I applaud you for reading this far and send you a huge burst of Light and Love for the year ahead.
Now, in celebration, I give you permission to resume focus on what you’d like to improve. π
