The Anti-New Year's Resolution π: The Key to Success in 2025
Dec 20, 2024As 2024 departs and we welcome 2025, I’d like to ask you do something a bit unconventional.
Yes, I know it might be surprising that I, of all people, would suggest going against the grain! π But trust me, this exercise will set you up for success.
Before you dive into planning your New Year's resolutions - and I know, like me, you might have already started thinking about them - take a moment with me. Let's do something far more valuable than simply making a list of goals.
This exercise is deceptively simple, yet surprisingly powerful. It will help move you into deeper alignment with your soul's true desires and set you up for personal growth and healing in the year ahead.
Reflect on Your Growth: A Simple Exercise to Move Forward Faster
Before you create new resolutions, take a moment to reflect on your past year and what you accomplished. This exercise will help you uncover the amazing strides you've made, even if you haven't noticed them yet, and short circuit limiting beliefs.
Step 1: List Ten Things That Were Awesome About You in 2024
Here’s your first task: Write down ten things that were awesome about you in 2023. You can do this! If you want to challenge yourself, aim for twenty-five (that’s what I ask my clients to do).
Think back to moments of courage, growth, compassion, or positive changes in your habits. What steps did you take that made you feel proud? Perhaps you let go of limiting beliefs, overcame a challenge, or supported someone in need. The small victories count!
A year is a long time, so reflect on all four seasons: winter, spring, summer, and autumn. What did you accomplish in each?
Step 2: Celebrate Your Impact on Others
For extra credit, take a look at your list and reflect on the people who have benefited from you being in their lives. Can you identify two individuals who you’ve helped in some way, either intentionally or by accident? These could be family members, friends, or colleagues who have felt your positive influence.
Step 3: Own Your Awesomeness
Here’s the hardest part: owning your greatness. It’s easy to dismiss our achievements and focus on what went wrong, but I’m here to encourage you to fully own your accomplishments.
Take a moment to clear your mind and really feel the good energy that comes with these positive reflections. Feel proud, feel worthy, and love yourself for being the unique gift that you are to others.
Embrace Your Inner Light
As you reflect on your strengths, breathe deeply, letting that love and pride fill your entire being—from your lungs to your organs to every single cell in your body. Let yourself bask in your awesomeness.
Love yourself for being who you are.
Love yourself for being the gift you are to others.
Love yourself for being willing to read this email.
Let that sink in. Deeply. To every cell of your being.
Own your gifts that you contribute to the world every day. And by own, I mean to let that good energy into your heart and love yourself for a moment. Feel worthy. Feel proud. Feel good.
